ABOUT US

The Moldova-born violinist Xenia Gogu and the Spanish cellist Victor Garcia Garcia form the Duo Auxesis, focused on historical interpretation of the violin and cello formation, ranging from the practice of chordal bass on the cello in baroque repertoire to rarely performed virtuosic repertoire of the early 19th century. Their goal is also to include commissioned  contemporary pieces in their repertoire to look for relationships between the old and the new.

The duo has recently been awarded First Prize, Audience Prize and “Music and Space” Prize at the Göttingen Händel Competition 2022. Furthermore, they have performed in festivals such as the Paessaggi Musicali Toscani and the Musethica Festival amongst others. They both take part in the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras Apprentices Programme and Academy of Collegium Vocale Gent. They are also artistic leaders of the Festival Impulso in La Palma, Spain.

Xenia is currently doing a Master’s in Early Music at the HdK Bremen and Victor, after obtaining his masters in Historical Informed Performance Practice is now pursuing a Doctorate in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, focused on the performance practice of cellists in the time of Beethoven.
